Last night we finally put up our Christmas Tree. We put this off because our cats are . . . not sure how to put this . . . overly fascinated with our tree. Every year we put up the tree and it looks great, and then we take some time every day after that to put all the ornaments back on the tree after the cats knock them all off. As we were putting the tree up last night we ran into a few road blocks. One, half our lights didn't work, I couldn't figure out why until I noticed deep punctures in some of the bases of the lights. They looked just the right size of hole for a kitty with a death wish. So, we focused on putting what lights we had left on the front of the tree, since it was going in a corner and the back didn't need to look pretty. Second, we had a dwindling supply of ornaments, since most of them either were broken by our devil animals, or lost- I'm sure spirited off to the same place all things seem to go missing around my house. It's ok though, even with a handful of ornaments, (we just stuck those on the front too) I think it turned out pretty good.
Though, if you look closely you can see the signs. Signs that this was not going to end well no matter how optimistic I was about my cats growing out of their tree obsession.
There, a cat. At this point the tree had been up for about five minutes. However, I remain positive; she's just sitting there enjoying the ambiance. Who wouldn't want to curl up under a Christmas Tree?
I woke up and started getting ready for work. Jordan asked if I had seen the tree, to which I replied that I was scared to go look in the living room. Mostly because I already found an ornament in the bathroom. I forgot about it until I went to leave for work, and walked into the living room to this:
They didn't even bother to flee the scene!
Doesn't she look oh so cozy?
I tried to put it back together and stand it up again, but it still leaned forward and there were big gaps where the branches had been pushed down where I'm assuming they had roosted for the night.
Over all I think it's an improvement.
Fantastic.
